Once upon a time. . .

December 2002

Mr. Madenford: "I swear by the end of this year I will hit a golf ball from the back of the school."

Mr. Deavor: "Yeah sure."

Mr. Madenford: "No, seriously, I will."

Mr. Wertz: "What are you two talking about?"

Mr. Deavor: "Oh, Madenford here thinks he is going to hit a golf ball from the back of the school."

Mr. Wertz: "Sounds like fun...sign me up."

Mr. Madenford: "Can't you see it?!"

Mr. Deavor: "See what?"

Mr. Madenford: "We could turn this back field into a golf hole!"

And so a dream was born . . .

Out of this small conversation came the creation of the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School Golf Club.

A club started to offer the students of the Sugar Valley the chance to learn and play golf in a relaxed environment.

An environment where both student and teacher/coach can work together towards one set of goals:

1. To offer an extra curricular activity

2. To create an interest in the sport of golf
